Fairfield Converted Coach House

Extended and renovated over the years, we created this striking kitchen from the old stable block. High ceilings were ideal for large chrome extractor fans and visible metal ducting, together with huge vintage factory lights sourced from Trainspotters.

Working closely with Nathan Kingsbury on this project, I brought together high gloss dark grey and matt veneer units topped with sharp white quartz. Cherner walnut counter stools soften the lines, and a scarlet 1970s Aga introduces a splash of colour. For more formal dining, a B&B Italia dining table completes the scheme.

For the large, unusually shaped principal bedroom, I commissioned bespoke pieces of furniture to complement an elegant, mirrored dressing table.

This modern extension benefits from a high vaulted ceiling; however wardrobe solutions needed to be clever and not dominate the space. Simple but elegant bedside drawers and a bespoke gentleman’s wardrobe are designed to provide ample clothes storage without dominating the space.

We chose a heavy cotton and linen weave from Larsen with a bold graphic pattern for interlined curtains and roman blinds. Custom-made studded headboards, simple cushions and a cashmere wool throw complete the relaxed but luxurious scheme.

The large family living room benefits from high ceilings and a feature limestone fireplace. Being open plan from the octagonal entrance hall, it required thoughtful interior design to create a room of its own with a classic contemporary feel. Into the colour palette of dark neutrals, we introduced mid-century influenced patterns and textures from Kelly Wearstler, Osborne & Little and Rubelli. Pops of colour complement the client’s art. The room now provides a wonderful entertaining space in winter when the open fire is blazing, and a cool retreat opening to the courtyard in summer.
